Swinging through September

It's hard to believe we have only had two weeks together as our new class! Here's a little snapshot of some of what we have been up to in that time:

Setting up our classroom jobs

Setting up our D.E.A.R. (DROP EVERYTHING AND READ)

And here is a sneak peek at our Reading Shelfies. I had a poster made at Costco for our classroom. I am so excited to share this with students on Monday!

Our shape of the day - we go over this each morning during our Morning meeting!

As you can see, we have started French, Math, Science, Physical Education, and Language Arts (D.E.A.R. and read aloud). We have also started Language Arts (Writing) and introduced our first Core Competency.

Our science unit this term is focusing on Earth and Space science. We had a lot of fun investigating am/pm using sun clocks which we made with a paper plate. We are hoping for a sunny day on Monday to try them outside before sending them home.

Here is one final picture of one of our math lessons this week: visualizing numbers. Students were shown the dot card you see on the computer screen for a few seconds. Then students were asked to tell how many dots they saw and how they saw them. The whiteboard shows all the different ways students visualized the dots.
