On Tuesday, May 31, Division 8 will be performing at the spring concert. Our class has prepared a recorder ensemble accompanied by the piano, orff instruments, and a few rhythm instruments. There will be two shows: 1:15 pm and 7:00 pm. Students should return to school for the evening concert between 6:30 pm and 6:45 pm. I will supervise the students in the classroom while waiting for our turn to present. You can pick your child up after the concert (approximately 8:00 pm) from the classroom.
In other news, we are wrapping up our book club unit in language arts. Students are finishing up their final project for their chapter book. They were given a choice of a gameboard, a book jacket, or a treasure chest. I have gone over the criteria with students in class and given them a brief description of the projects or examples. Please ask your child to bring home the orange paper describing our book club unit if you would like to see it.
Students are busy researching an animal of their choice to create a poster advertising the amazing features or adaptations of that animal. We are learning about the difference between a structural and a behavioural adaptation.
Grade 4 students are learning long division in math. We have almost mastered the first three steps and will work on the final three steps next week. There will be a quiz next Friday. Grade 3 students are working on subtraction with regrouping.
