We had a great session with Cath Blythe last week. Students handled the sensitive topic of Body Science with maturity, asking thoughtful questions and demonstrating a good knowledge base. One of the topics that was most pertinent to our class was puberty. In our class health lessons, we have been learning about our 7 Root Safety strategies. See how many your child can recall. This week we will be talking more about boundaries.
The mid-year progress report will be coming home this week. The core subjects are all being reported on, with the exception of French. This will be communicated at the next conferences and also on the final progress report in June (grade five students only). The following may be helpful in understanding the new categories used to provide feedback on student progress.
Beginning - “I’m just getting started.” “I learn best with help.”
Developing - "I’m getting there.” “I am beginning to do more and more on my own.”
Applying - “I get it.” “I can do it on my own.”
Extending - “I get it and go beyond what is expected of me.” “I can teach it to a friend.”
