What a great term! The students have worked really hard this term and the evidence is in the learning they have accomplished. We are currently wrapping up the last of the loose ends to a successful term.
Here are a few snapshots of the last few weeks:
In Health and Career, we have almost completed our Kids in the Know program. We talked about safety strategies for being home alone, and will finish the last lesson about online safety, after the break, If you visit the school in the next while, please check out the amazing pink day bulletin board by the stairs next to our classroom.
We are wrapping up several units in Language arts. Students enjoyed our read aloud so much that they requested we continue with book two in the series of Ember. We are hoping to watch the movie tomorrow and compare it to the book. Paper bag character reports were shared in small groups this week. I was amazed at the creativity and thought behind the objects students included to represent their characters. Well done! We are also wrapping up our book clubs this week.
Our Van Gogh workshop at Oakridge was terrific. Students were attentive, and asked thoughtful questions. We are just finishing up an art project inspired by Van Gogh. Check out the photos in the Art Gallery page! I am still waiting to receive the digital pictures which the students created using Adobe Sketch at our workshop. The students worked in partners to take a "selfie" and apply Van Gogh's techniques to the picture. The results were quite interesting!
Our final skating session is this week. Many thanks to the parents who skated with us, or tied laces. It has been fun to see students progressing in their skills and having fun. Our class also did such an amazing job of supporting the younger primary classes. I am really proud of them!
I hope everyone enjoys a wonderful two weeks. See you at the end of March!
