Just a quick reminder to all our families that this weekend we will be moving our clocks forward one hour!
Please note that the Term 2 letter grade for Fine Arts is just for Music with Mr. Matthewson. He will be around on Thursday if you would like to speak with him or just say hello!
Student-led conferences are next week. For those parents that aren't familiar with the process, this is the second of two informal meetings where teachers meet with parents (the first was the goal-setting conferences in fall). The biggest difference will be that several families will be in the classroom during the block of time you have signed up for. Students will be leading the conference and taking you through their work. We have begun working on an agenda in class. We are gathering samples of work to share with you that will give you a snapshot into life in our classroom, and in particular, some of the learning focuses from our second term. Students will also be responsible for communicating to you their learning goals. I will be in the room and available to answer questions or to assist the students in leading the conference. If you have more than one child in the school, please know that you can show up to the classroom at any point during the block of time you chose! Conferences will be around 15 - 20 minutes in length.
NO HOMEWORK next week! We will be taking a break from our math routine until after spring break. If you would like students to continue to practice, there are some math sites you can check out on the Links for Students page. Or you could ask your child to teach you one of the math games that we have learned at school.
If you missed out on our First Nations model exhibit, don't worry! We have lots of pictures and I will be putting together a slide show that you can view during student-led conferences. Next term, we will begin looking at explorers and the changes to First Nations cultures. Save the date: May 21 we will be heading out for a full day's field trip to the Fort Langley Historical Site. The bus is booked and we will need 2 parents to help us out that day!
Next Wednesday, we will be making leprechaun traps with our buddies. Please feel free to send any odds n' ends of recycling bits that students could use to build a trap. We have been working with our buddies since October so there are some amazing bonds that have formed. This is also such a great opportunity to develop our empathy skills (the virtue of the month at Wolfe) and to be an older role model.
Please watch for an update to the art gallery. I have some great photos from our Valentine's Day party!
