We are going to the Museum of Anthropology on January 15. We are still in need of drivers for about six more students! I apologize for the short notice. We would appreciate great if you are able to just do a drop off/pick up. Thanks to those who have already offered to help out!
In Social Studies, we are going to be learning about the traditional way of life for First Nations people starting in British Columbia. Later, students will be choosing a First Nations group from across Canada to research independently and create a model. More information will come home later on this project. For now, we could use your help in collecting materials that would be useful in model making. Here is a list of items needed:
- larger pieces of thick cardboard (at least 18 x 20")
- modeling clay (especially brown, black, red, blue, green, grey, white)
- scraps of leather and felt
- round clothes pegs (either small or large)
We will be studying light and sound in Science this term. It would be helpful if each child is able to bring a small working flashlight to school by Monday. We will keep these at school for several activities and return them at the end of the unit.
The first few weeks of math will be spent reviewing subtraction (with and without regrouping to 10,000). There is a fun YouTube video which I used to teach students a rhyme for remembering when to borrow. Enjoy watching it at home!
Happy New Year!
